Description:

While I am comfortable with this ID, I have yet to find an explanation for the black piles on the mushroom. In this sighting, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/39002038 , the mushroom was almost completely covered. Is this frass, a product of the fungus, a parasitic fungus?
