Field Notes

Description:

Locally know in Indonesia as "Bintang Laut Jerapah" (Sea-Giraffe Star), is pale brown in colour with light spots and dark meshing lines forming a mosaic pattern over the body, diameter size of 20cm, five cylindrical arms with a white central rosette.

Habitat:

Spotted at Flores Sea, Komodo area, Indonesia.
Is a tropical echinoderm seastar species that occur throughout tropical reefs including Philippine Islands, S. Japan, Caroline Islands, East Indies, China, south Japan, South Pacific and Australia. Depth range 0-70 m.
