Cuban tree frog
Osteopilus septentrionalis
27.2472, -80.3564
Field Notes
Description:
Even though I try to eliminate invasive species, I haven't had the heart to get rid of this guy. His leg doesn't fold up normally, probably because of a predator attack. The foot on that leg doesn't seem to work right either.
I first noticed him about six months ago, and he's still going strong. He hangs out in the windows at night catching bugs seemingly just as easily as non-injured frogs.
Usually tree frogs hide during the day in tiny spaces. With his disability, I'm not sure how this frog manages, but he's found a way it seems.
