Field Notes

Description:

Dark brown back, white face, neck and belly. Black crested cap and narrow stripe down back of nec. Red eyes and yellow-orange long pointed bills. Body is compact and neck is long.

Habitat:

Mostly found marshes, lakes and bays. This one was spotted in the SF bay

Notes:

spotted with a Western Grebe.
