Description:
About 12-14 mm in body length, colored as shown; greatly resembles a paper wasp at first glance.
Habitat:
Wasp was taking nectar from a lone, blooming salt cedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in degraded shortgrass prairie habitat with yucca, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.
