Meredith is on the money. I'd say it's definitely a female Anisomorpha but in Texas it could be one of two species: A. buprestoides or A. ferruginea. I think it's safe to put Anisomorpha sp. only on this one.
It's not a praying mantis. Its in the order Phasmatodea (walking sticks) but it is not Diapheromera femorata. Maybe Anisomorpha buprestoides or something related? http://bugguide.net/node/view/279449
