Description:

Echinops spinosissimus (syn. Echinops creticus) is a European species of plants in the thistle tribe within the sunflower family. It is native to southeastern Europe (Sicily, Apulia, Greece, Albania, and the western Balkans), northern Africa, and southwest Asia as far east as Iran. In Crete Island can be found the name species echinops spinosissimus and also the subspecies Echinops spinosissimus ssp. bithyncus. In this spotting, both species are presented, as spotted and photographed growing on the rocky shore near Agios Nikolaos city, Crete island, Greece.
