Field Notes

Description:

Like miniature pikelets, these pale mushrooms were growing in clusters. Caps (40mm wide) were darker in the centre and, in mature caps which were flat, there was a marginal ring of pale short white fibres.
Young caps were dome shaped and the margins were densely fibrilose. The gills were a a pale reddish-brown and the colour continued down the stipe. The base of the stipe had a significant amount of hyphae and these seemed to wrap around the lower third of the stipe.

Habitat:

wood chip and leaf mulch.

Notes:

still looking for an ID...all help will be appreciated.

Thanks CorduneanuVlad, it seems Marasmius oreades also grow in Australia (imported from Europe) - I will check these out. The mushrooms in my spotting do have have some features similar to the one in the link and, what's interesting is I have another spotting which also looks like M.oreades. Thanks again for the suggestion - will look at more closely..
Please check out this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marasmius_oreades but these grow in the northen hemisphere... but they look like this.
