Description:

Just a color variation on the common gray squirrel

Habitat:

Can be found wherever you see gray squirrels.

Notes:

I spotted this guy in the early Fall. He was just chilling in my backyard

I used to feed a black squirrel in the 60's in Washington DC.
That is a really good picture
Interestingly enough, the black morph might have been the most common form before the Industrial Revolution --more forest and shade was an advantage. However, once more forests were felled and as more light gaps were propagated, being dark stood out more. Those squirrels were more likely to be eaten, so the gray/brown forms started to become more common.
