Field Notes

Description:

About 25 mm. She is a large queen.
Starting a New Tribe..
After landing on a suitable tree, she has shed her wings and laid a few precious eggs... She would guard it with her life if need be. After her new work force come out they will help her make a nest of rolled up leaves.
Update on 03/06/21:
Now the eggs have turned to larvae and the queen is using a live larva to spin silk for gluing leaves together to make a home for the new brood.
