Thanks bayucca. I thought I recognized this fellow! Merged the spottings and copied your comment over.
thanks ForestDragon and Doren B...
copied from duplicated spotting... I think this is a male dobsonfly from the genus Corydalus similar to Corydalus cornutus, the Eastern Dobsonfly from US. Unfortunately there is not much info about the ones from Costa Rica. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corydalus_c... Please, verify. I might be wrong, the antennae are some kind shorter than usually seen (?). At first sight it reminds me also to a fishfly...
Corydalus sp., same one like this I would say... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/43565145
This is one of the Corydalinae (Dobsonflies) but I am not familiar with the species in your area. You may want to look at this reference: http://tolweb.org/images/Corydalinae/12999 or search for corydalus or corydalinae here at Project Noah.
Beautiful male Dobsonfly! Not sure of the species though. :( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dobsonfly
