Field Notes

Description:

Green body with white stripes, and orange folds on its dorsal side.

Habitat:

Tide pools/intertidal zone. Usually found in sunlit waters.

Notes:

If you look closely, you can see bright blue specks in between the folds. This species retains living chloroplasts from the algae it eats inside its body, essentially running on solar power. For more information, check out: http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/elysdiom
