Field Notes

Description:

"The principal characteristics of this little bird are diligence, familiarity, perseverance, and a strength of energy in the head and muscles of the neck, which are truly astonishing."

-- Alexander Wilson

Notes:

This little fellow took shelter from a snowstorm in a tree outside the living room window. His plumage blends so well with the snow that I wouldn't have seen him if I hadn't been looking outside when he landed.

A lovely book about these birds....

A down jacket is a wonderful thing!
Looks freezing. Just wished I had the courage to go out with such weather conditions. Nice capture. Thanks for sharing.
