Description:

Large white bird similar in build to a heron. They used to be slaughtered for their feathers for Ladies hats.

Habitat:

He is hunting for anoles in our shrubbery on a rainy day. Often seen closer to water. But if they can pick up a quick meal in your yard they will.

According to Wikipedia... in the past it was sometimes placed in Egretta or separated in a monotypic genus Casmerodius. Synonyms: Ardea alba Casmerodius albus Egretta alba We're both right ;)
