Field Notes

Description:

Unidentified footprint in the Sahara desert, near a saline surface lake. Siwa Oasis, Egypt, near the Libyan border.

Habitat:

Sahara desert

Notes:

Never identified it, but the footprints appeared very fresh at 6am, so possibly a nocturnal wanderer. Feet were positioned next to each other, and it looked like it had hopped, rather than taking alternating steps. Each hop was about 5-10 cm apart and it looked like a quadruped, with a body length of maybe 5 cm. Estimated, as I didn't take measurements.

Did any of the people within the area have some ideas of what animals it could possibly be? Maybe some animals that are known to live in that area and climate? Just a thought..
