I wish that I could have taken a better picture of it...what you can't see is that there was a 2nd one that was dead floating in the river. This one was standing on the pilon making all kinds of noise! =o/

the bill also seems too wide...my vote is great blue heron as well

My thought was reddish egret too, but reddish egrets have black legs and a black-tipped bill, and it looks like this has pink/orange legs and a pale bill... This is a hard one!
