Field Notes

Description:

A medium-sized stocky bird with a shaggy crest. Slate blue and white plumage with a heavy bill. Males lack the rufous band on the belly.

Habitat:

Spotted foraging from perches at the Skagit Wildlife Area-Wiley Slough, an estuary of the Skagit River.
