OK, Green Peafowl are from Java, Indonesia. There are several variations but males and females are similar, though only males have the train in breeding season. I think I have pictures somewhere, will post when I find them. I have just seen some Indian Peafowl here in Spain, complete with young, will post pics after returning home.
Ashish, the Green Peafowl is a different bird altogether, the male Indian (Peacock) is mainly blue while the female (Peahen) is green and brown, with a much shorter tail. The Green Peafowl (male) has a green breast, neck and head. I don't have the remaining details in my head at the moment and I don't have my books with me so will answer when I get home.
Thank you, although I knew the Peacock was the male of the species ;) and Peahen the female, I didn't know they were called Peafowl! So this is an Indian Peafowl, sounds very exotic, will change name now!
The female has a much shorter tail and a white belly.
The all green peacock is known as a Green Peafowl, Pavo muticus, and again the female has a short tail but is otherwise very similar.
Peacock refers to the male of either species and peahen the female.
