Field Notes

Description:

Dark brown mushrooms with striated caps ( about 25 mm wide) and black depressed centres. The gills were spaced and a beautiful cream colour in stark contrast with the dark cap and dark stipe. The stipe had tinges of deep purple. The fruiting bodies grew in clumps.

Habitat:

Spotted in damp sandy soil amongst sodden leaf litter. Mixed natives in trees.

Notes:

Not able to add any reference except that it is identified as such in the Field Guide to Tasmanian Fungi by G. Gates & D. Ratkowsky. Described as having a violaceous cap margin and grey-blue stipe. <br> family: Entolomataceae
