Field Notes

Description:

A rather inconspicuous grasshopper from Northwest South America, very similar to the commoner Orphulella concinnula, but slimmer and longer-looking; head is also more slanted and pointed.

Habitat:

Dry area natural pastures, in short to knee-high grass. Locally common in the Llanos region of Colombia and Venezuela (Northern Colombia as well), where this female was photographed, it seems for the first time ever for the Internet!

Notes:

Species featured (along with 90 more) in the second volume of the upcoming "Grasshoppers of Northwest South America - A Photo Guide". The first volume is available in Amazon.
