Field Notes

Description:

A small snake, terrestrial carnivore, preying mostly on anoles and some larger lizards. Length from 12 to 14 inches. Is endemic to Puerto Rico.

Habitat:

It prefers the forest floor under rocks, leaf litter or dead logs and branches. I found this one in a Ficus benjamina in my backyard.
