Field Notes

Description:

Enormous bird ( about 70cm) with big bill and horn on its bill. Black and white with a yellow and black bill, white belly and some white accents on the wingtips. It has some light blue white colouring around the eyes.

Habitat:

Pulau Ubin, Singapore, Singapore. Near mangroves, forest and a reservoir.

Notes:

After having seen a flock of Hornbills flying over the reservoir ( see spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/554466007 ) we have looked them up in a tree (spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/540106018 ) and then when we least expected it and were happy already, a whole group landed just in front of us in a tree. They continued to fly from one tree to another, feeding on the fruit, and flying about 2 meters over our head. AWESOME!!!!!
