Description:

Sail or Scarce swallowtail is an easily recognized and attractive butterfly, about 8-9 cm in wingspan.

Habitat:

In spite of its predominant English name ('Scarce' Swallowtail) this is a very common butterfly in Dalmatia, the coastal region of Croatia. Here seen in an ancient cemetery in hinterland of Dubrovnik, in hills covered by a maquis. Hills are rocky and often steep, and covered by a evergreen shrubs and mixed Mediterranean forests.
