Description:
Great spotted woodpecker probably eating ants or larvae on a pine tree stump. 23–26 centimetres long with a 38–44 centimetres wingspan. Easy to identify because of the black and white shoulders with red undertail coverts. Males have a crimson spot on the nape as this is the case.
Habitat:
Spotted at a pine-tree (Pinus silvestris) forest. Reserva de la Biosfera del Real Sitio de San Ildefons-El Espinar.
