This looks like young gooseberry to me.. not a good leaf view or plant view though

The fact that there is a beak coming off of the berry reminds me of hazelnut plants, but I've never seen a picture of a hazelnut where the outside looks purple, so I don't know. How do you know that it's edible, or is that just a hunch?
