Description:
This is a stilt-legged fly (Micropezidae), named for its characteristically long legs (not to be confused with the "long-legged flies" of Dolichopodidae). The fore legs are markedly smaller than the other two pairs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micropezidae
Habitat:
Spotted in a large semi-urban yard & garden, near a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest. This is in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
