Field Notes

Description:

An all black snake that scared the doodoo out of me by "rattling" his tail amidst the dry and leafy forest floor.

Habitat:

Wherever snakes might live

Notes:

I was running down a trail and out of nowhere about 10 feet away this guy starts to warn me of his presence by rattling his tail in the dry rustling leaves. I swore for sure it was a rattlesnake until I got back to the office and looked at the pictures. I've identified it as a black racer. Kinda stupid of me to stay there and keep snapping pictures, but you can't pass up a chance like that!
