Field Notes

Description:

It’s part of the “true bug” family. Stinkbugs take shelter in your home when winter rolls around. They are attracted to the warmth of the inside of the house. Their defense mechanism is a brew of chemicals that blends inside of and is ejected out of their abdomen.

Habitat:

Trees/Schrubs

Notes:

Stinkbugs are an invasive species.

As for the identification of this spotting, I don't think this is Chinavia hilaris as it lacks the green color that species exhibits. I think this is another type of true bug, but I don't think identification is possible without clearer and closer photos.
