Field Notes

Habitat:

ranging from deserts and grasslands to alpine meadows. You’re most likely to see them perching on telephone wires along roadsides, in open country with short vegetation and few trees.

Notes:

Unfortunately sitting atop a very tall palm so it was hard to get a good angle. But this little beauty had just finished a lizard lunch (see last photo). From my distance, I think it was a green anole.

Agreed, I love that first shot. I think the lines of the palm lead the eye to the kestrel, which adds to its prominence in the photo.
Even though you struggled with the bird hidden on top that is a lovely image and composition Livan! Nice series and notes too.
