Field Notes

Description:

Orange, black and white bug nymph. Trying to predate on a Live oak tussock moth caterpillar -Orgyia detrita.

Habitat:

Found on a piece of metal underneath a Live Oak tree.

Notes:

This nymph kept trying to grab the caterpillar and penetrate it with its beak. See second picture. The caterpillar would pull away and the bug would reposition itself to try again. I wasn't able to stay and see the outcome.
