Hey Lori :) Thanks for the welcome :) I live in Tasmania, have for the last 12 years. I only found this site yesterday when I was searching to see what type of 'Christmas beetle' it was :)
Hey Mel, are you Taswegian, or were you just visiting? Either way, welcome to NOAH. It is indeed a Golden stag beetle. It's a female, and they tend to be metallic green. It's the males that are gold and have the long "stag" antennae.
