Field Notes

Description:

Protogoniomorpha temora, the Blue Mother-of-Pearl or Eastern Blue Beauty, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family.

Habitat:

Seen during a walk into the northern area of Kibale national Park. Tropical rain forest. This species lives in semi-montane forests, at an elevation of about 1,500–2,300 metres (4,900–7,500 ft) above sea level.

Notes:

Kibale National Park (pronounced Chibale) is a national park in South Uganda protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 km² in size and is located between 1,100–1,600 meters in elevation.

This butterfly was hard to photograph, it was so dark in colour. I lightened it quite a bit so the markings could be seen.
