Field Notes

Description:

Paper wasp nest in a boxwood bush. I found it interesting that there were wasps with different colored faces in the same nest. If anyone knows anything about that, feel free to leave a comment!

Habitat:

Boxwood in landscaping, rural deciduous area, Clermont County

Notes:

Fun fact: They use wood fibers to build their nests, including manufactured paper if available. If you leave out bits of colored paper near a developing nest, you might be surprised to find a rainbow nest in the near future.
