Description:

he's about 7 or 8 cms long, some kind of native rodent marsupial maybe..

Habitat:

found him nested on our front verandah..

Interesting.... be sure to let us know what he grows into :)
I'm pretty sure it's not a baby ring tailed possum.. Too small and its nest was more rat/mouse like.. made from old leaves and bits of worn material, it's sort of visible behind the little fellow.. he was sitting in a small 25cm by 25cm by 30cm cubbyhole. a sort of outdoor shelf that wasn't being used by us..
