Field Notes

Description:

A common squirrel of the western United States and Baja Peninsula. Being ground squirrels, they spend a large portion of their lives within burrows and are never far away from an escape hole.

Habitat:

Anywhere with open grazing

Notes:

The squirrels at the Stanford Dish seem to be very tame (this picture was taken with a point and shoot camera 3 feet away from the animal).
