Field Notes

Description:

2-3 cm.

Habitat:

In a public garden.

Notes:

They can be found on surfaces in the sun waiting for the arrival of some prey. They can hunt from flies to bees.
An interesting aspect of the aslids is that both the adult and the larva are predators of other arthropods. The adult hunts the prey and holds it tightly with its spiny legs. Then he sticks his trunk into them and inoculates a saliva that contains enzymes that will undo the prey inside. This allows you to digest externally and then absorb the contents.
