Description:

Bicyclus is the most numerous of the Satyrine genera in Africa. The butterflies are collectively known as Bush Browns, and can be thought of as the sister genus to the Asian Mycalesis.

The butterflies are active in full sunshine but can often be found at rest on bushes or low herbage in overcast weather.

Habitat:

Likes darkish places under bushes.

Notes:

This species is found in savannah / forest mosaics, riverine thickets, open disturbed woodland and scrubby farmland.

Having trouble deciding if this is Bicyclus dorothea or Bicyclus vulgaris. Any ideas?

thanks Daniele. I did look at this one, but to my eye at least, it looked different. I think I am looking for an exact match. I must remember that's a thing that rarely happens in nature!
