There are 2 German Taxanomists that specializes in the Phasmids from the Neotropics - Oskar Conle & Frank Hennemann. Both of them works together and have described many new species from Central & South America. They have also published books of Phasmids of Columbia, Costa Rica and Brazil, if not mistaken. You might be able to get your Phasmid sightings from those places ID-ed by them.
There are indeed! However, it's very difficult to ID them. Probably worth starting a mission to create a pool of identified phasmids worldwide.
