Field Notes

Description:

The berries are quite large for such a small plant. I found a patch whose leaves were already turning red, which is still pretty early as I saw these in August.

Habitat:

Top of Pillar Mountain. Tundra

Notes:

They are edible, but not a choice berry for most. I use them to stretch a batch of jam.
