Field Notes

Description:

A small speckled tortoise beetle with golden shoulder pads.
It looks similar to P. decolorata but the colors are too strong.

Habitat:

Sitting in a small red box gum Eucalyptus polyanthemos.

Notes:

The two toned pattern of the red back fading towards the outer edge might be a winter form. There are very few beetles to be found in August (winter) so this is a treat.
