Mute swan

Cygnus olor

Comments (1)

Turns out they are an introduced species from Europe... brought here to "decorate" estates and ponds. But have succeeded enormously. I travel from New Haven to Providence on AMTRAK and much of the track parallels the L.I. sound. This winter I saw at least 50 mute swans along the way. They are salt water and fresh water birds.
