Field Notes

Description:

This beetle's body was about 1 and 1/2 inches in length by about 1/2 wide, with antlers about the same length as its body. The antlers have a carved look about them, as if they are legs to an ornate table.

Habitat:

This beetle was found at the bottom of a sack of fire wood that we had purchased. There was a couple of pieces of the cut wood which showed signs of bore holes which suggest that the beetle was still inside when the wood was loaded into the bag.
