Field Notes

Description:

Dark caterpillars, slightly spiky with distinctive white/yellow broken stripe down each side.

Habitat:

Suburban garden, caterpillars are feeding on nettles, most are individually wrapped up in one nettle leaf which they have woven together.

Notes:

I am nurturing a wild area in my already quite wild garden, I have one solitary nettle plant and have so far counted about 15 individual caterpillars over the last few weeks.
