Description:
A large and prized edible bolete mushroom. The stipe is overly wide and the cap can grow up to dinner plate size like middle specimen in the picture. The light brown color couple with lack of brusing when handled makes it difficult to mix this particular bolete up with others. Still, as mushroom pickers always remind, pick and consume at your own risk.

No location for the pictured mushroom because of fear that someone will get to them this season before I do:)
Habitat:
Habitat can be variable. These were found in a grassy area next to a water source. Other sources note their relationship with pine trees.
Notes:
Depending on elevation, late summer and early fall represent good times for mushroom hunters. Best chance of success is to wait for a week or so after the first heavy rain. The mushrooms are waiting to pop up.
