Field Notes

Description:

A rather slow moving insect, though that may be due to it being a rather cool morning. About an inch long. I've seen these around before but very infrequently. I believe this is a type of assassin bug but am looking for a more specific description.

Species ID Suggestions

Western Conifer Seed Bug

Leptoglossus occidentalis

we always called them cedar beetles, or stink bugs. defensive mechanism is to spray a dark brown spray that smells like rotten bananas
I agree. Does look superficially like an assassin bug though.
I'm going with the Western Conifer Seed Bug based on location and what looks like symmetrical tibial dilation.
