Field Notes

Description:

A beautiful 17-pound male lobster, with a crusher claw nearly as big as your typical supermarket lobster's entire body.

Habitat:

Trapped in deep water on a rocky bottom off Spruce Head, Maine.

Notes:

Kept for two weeks for teaching purposes (with special permission from the Maine DMR for holding an oversized lobster) and released.
