Snow Goose
Chen caerulescens
40.0379, -76.3055
Field Notes
Description:
At dusk, this lone, juvenile Snow Goose arrived in tight formation with a male Mallard, landed in a pond, and later fed on grass in an adjacent lawn. Two Canada Geese soon came from above and chased it away. The Snow Goose flew back the next day. The third day, observers noticed that its right wing was then broken, but it continues to walk, eat, and swim normally.
Habitat:
In this case, a wetlands area between residential apartments.
