Field Notes

Description:

This worm along with several others like it was found in some hickory wood we were chopping for barbecuing. There were tunnels in the wood where the worms were found. They had no legs and an accordion shaped body with a hard brown head.

Comments (2)

It's probably some type of beetle larvae: they do look like little worms, but have sizable mandibles. The fact that they were found in hickory will probably help with the identification.
