Field Notes

Description:

Tried three different times to figure out this fungus. It popped up overnight next to a tree in South Texas. It's approximately four inches tall.

Species ID Suggestions

Shaggy mane

Coprinus comatus

Comments (1)

It looks most likely to me to be the stem of a mushroom that has lost it's cap. It could be something else though, maybe a malformed mushroom or possibly some kind of stinkhorn.
