Description:

Magnolia Family. Beautiful star-shaped fragrant spring flowers. White + double + ribbon-like from pink buds

Habitat:

exceptional cold tolerance. upright multi-stemmed growth slow + dense + rounded habit to 10-15'+

Notes:

LIGHT: sun to partial shade [prefers afternoon shade]
WATER: evenly moist [considered drought tolerant once established]
SOIL: fertile + humus-rich + slightly acid + well-drained

How to grow Royal Star Magnolias:
. Select a location that provides the plant's growing requirements [sunlight, water, soil]
. Plant in protected areas away from freezing winter winds
. Water regularly until established and during dry spells for optimum performance
. Fertilize in early spring with an acid-type fertilizer [keep away from base of plant]
. Prune during the summer months if needed [blooms on previous year's growth]
. Maintain a 2" mulch layer year-round to conserve soil moisture and minimize pesky weeds
. Avoid unnecessary cultivation around plants once they're established
